Our approach to sustainability

We want to be a pioneer in the sustainable repurposing of unique buildings. This requires a structural, integral and collaborative approach.  By experimenting, innovating, sharing knowledge and experiences, we want to accelerate the transition to a sustainable sector. In the coming years, five themes will be central. Climate, energy, circularity, nature & biodiversity and social responsibility. Integral sustainability is not only about CO2 reduction or natural gas-free buildings, but also about protecting flora and fauna and increasing social awareness.

Showcase Rietveld Church
Insulation and electric heating

One of the sustainability measures taken in the former church was replacing all the single glass with insulated glass. Low temperature underfloor heating and a ventilation system with heat recovery heat the building for a comfortable climate.

Showcase Service Houses
Insulation and solar powered heat

The former houses have been stripped to allow for structural high level isolation of the floors, roof, walls and window frames with HR++ insulated glass. Low temperature heating is produced by heat pumps with underfloor heating and are powered by solar panels.

Showcase Dongecentrale
Heat Storage and solar powered heat

Huge existing watertanks in the Dongecentrale have been reused to store water that is heated with solar powered heat pumps. This system allows for smart reuse of existing infrastructure and a sustainable inside climate.

ABOUT US

Smart reuse of historic buildings is central to the development strategy. The components of a project are the creative and adaptive reuse of historic, often-forgotten buildings to newly designed functions that fit their surroundings.
